The Central Government Employee Union leader and General Secretary of National Joint Council of Action (NJCA) Shiv Gopal Mishra is optimist that Narendra Modi will consider their plea of increasing minimum wage after meeting three Union Ministers, Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley and Suresh Prabhu on Thursday. Mishra, the convenor of NJCA is not sure whether their demand on 7th Pay Commission (7CPC) will be fulfilled completely or partially but some positive news is expected on July 6.
A day after Narendra Modi government approved the recommendation made by the 7CPC, Mishra and several other union leaders had threatened to call an indefinite strike. On Thursday night at around 11 pm, a delegation led by Mishra met Rajnath Singh at his residence where they held a
meeting for almost two hours. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu were also present there. After the meeting ended Mishra was assured a review committee will be set up, which will look into the demand made by them leaders after the implementation of 7CPC.
Fit Mom Daily“We are optimist that there will be some hike in minimum wage but not sure whether the government will fulfill our demand of increasing minimum wage to Rs 26,000 per month,” Mishra said to India.com. Looking at the current situation Mishra said that the government is likely to choose a middle-path, which means that the minimum wage could be anywhere between Rs 20,000 to Rs 23,000 The NJCA convenor said, “Our plan of action will be set after July 6. The three Union Ministers had assured Mishra and his delegation that they will answer on their demands on July 6, Wednesday. Mishra said we are waiting till July 6, after which we will reveal our next plan of action. NJCA and other union members had threatened to carry out indefinite strike on July 11 if their demand is not fulfilled.
When asked about the burden on Centre for increasing the minimum wage, Mishra said, “After eight years the government has set up (7CPC), during these years minimum wage of government employees were never hiked. Look at the price rise. After all government employees are also human beings”.
The recommendations made by 7CPC was partially implemented on Wednesday, six month after Justice A K Mathur and his team has submitted its final report. The government implemented 23.5 per cent salary hike, after which the minimum wage of central government employee has been increased from Rs 7,000 per month to Rs 18,000.
According to reports, more than 47 lakh government employee had been eagerly waiting for the implementation of 7CPC. Out of 47 lakh central government employee more than 89 per cent fall under the minimum wage category.
